Country & River Properties on both sides of the Delaware River

Whether you are looking for more information about log homes and log home care, or would like to find rustic accessories for your home, I hope you find this page helpful.

Whether you've just built the home of your dreams, or purchased an existing log home, you need to know that your investment is protected from the elements. Nature is harsh—wind, humidity, insects, UV rays––all relentless forces attacking the logs of your home.

We take every opportunity to frustrate Mother Nature by formulating products of uncompromising quality. From our short term preservative, Log Keeper , to finishing products like Log Builder caulking , Log Jam chinking , or our stains Sashco's Capture/Cascade or High Sierra Log Stain , we use only the highest-grade raw materials.

The nature of logs varies greatly due to the differences in wood species, moisture levels and the "type" of log. Preparation, application and maintenance procedures therefore may differ depending upon the type of log.

Logs can be made of hard or soft wood. Oak is an example of a hard wood and pine a soft wood. Hard and soft woods each have their own special characteristics that affect construction and coating techniques. Sikkens wood finishes are compatible with all wood species when proper preparation has been done.

WOODguard is an oil-based exterior wood preservative for log homes, wood siding and shake shingles.  It protects against fading and discoloration due to decay, fungus and mold while providing water repellency by penetrating deeply into the wood.   Only one coat is needed with this quality product that begins protecting wood with the first application.  We recommend a second coat after 12 to15 months.

WOODguard also protects against cupping, curling and warping as well as insects such as anabiid beetles and termites.  It is VOC compliant in all 50 states.  The active ingredient, copper 8 quinolinolate is suitable for use on wood that may have incidental food contact.

Essential Log Home Restorations, Inc . provides log home & log cabin restorations and repairs. Services include cornblasting, staining, rot repair,  sealing, chinking, log replacement, log siding and construction services. 315-963-7307
